The prodigal technician has returned, now as a fully fledged PhD student, to complete his dissertation research in the lab. He was also appointed to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience's NIH T32! Congratulations, Ben! We are all so excited to have you back!
Many thanks to Yaretzi for a wonderful summer project in the lab, where she worked with Christine to explore alterations to serotonergic inputs to the cerebellum in Spinocerebellar Ataxia
There were memes. And flannel. There were also cows, but not as part of the research talk
Congratulations to Christine, who didn't let a broken and sprained ankle stop her from absolutely crushing her prelim and advancing to PhD Candidacy!
The lab is crushing it at Campus Club Competitions as of late, with Ben and Martha (in collaboration with the Vulchanova and Stone labs) taking home 1st place in competitive jigsaw puzzle night, and the lab winning Trivia Mafia, complete with matching flannels, courtesy of Christine. Epic.
Congratulations to Christine for her first poster presentation!
Thanks to Christine and Eleftheria for reminding me to celebrate the little things.
A very successful pumpkin carving/painting party
Dr. Alyssa Soles is joining the lab as a postdoc in September 2024, and kicked things off with some great news. She will officially be appointed to the University of Minnesota Neuroimaging Postdoctoral Fellowship Program! Congratulations Alyssa!
In which I am convinced to let folks "personalize" their lab attire
We had our first lab gathering of the summer and had a lovely time welcoming new lab graduate student Christine (co-advised by Harry Orr), Macalester undergraduate student Valeria, postdoc-to-be Alyssa, and rotating PhD student Osmar!
My sincerest gratitude to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience for awarding me the 2024 Faculty Award for Advancing DEI. This work is important, and it always will be.
Eleftheria joins us from the Lemos lab and is going to be working on histology and wide-field imaging projects. She is also a fellow Mount Holyoke grad!
A massive congratulations to lab technician extraordinaire Ben, who got in to ALL THREE of his prospective Neuroscience PhD Programs!!
We officially opened November 1, 2023! A massive thank you to Ben for being brave enough to come along for this new journey.
